Happy Holidays!

The holidays are a time when families, friends, colleagues and communities come together to celebrate and give thanks for their many blessings. However, it is important to recognize that not everyone is going to consider this holiday season a time of celebration. Sadly, far too many families will be spending the holidays without their loved one. For the families and communities that have lost an officer, our thoughts, prayers and best wishes are with you.

On a brighter note, the number of line-of-duty deaths this year has dropped significantly, especially in the number of officers shot and killed on the job. This is something we are all grateful for.

Each and every one of you dedicated volunteer Ambassadors and Guardians give so much of yourselves to help the Memorial Fund fulfill our important mission. This year our Ambassadors and Guardians have supported many amazing events: sporting events managed by Brent Clark, Stuart & Lisa Levine, Chris & Erin Shoppmeyer, and others; corporate donor meetings with Joshua Bowman; and motorcycle runs with Tim Cahill. This list barely scratches the surface, but if I tried to list all of you and your contributions, this message would go on forever. Suffice it to say that we could not accomplish all we do without your invaluable support.

Memorial Fund staff also deserves a great deal of thanks. Our small, yet devoted team of professionals works every day to honor the service and sacrifice of our law enforcement professionals and their families. And our talented Development team should be recognized for their hard work and success raising funds to support our worthy efforts.

We also remember and give thanks for each and every one of the more than 800,000 men and women who everyday put on a uniform, strap on a gun, pin a shield on their chest, and keep our communities safe. Thank you for your service, and please thank your family for their sacrifice. It is they who will be home thinking of you and patiently waiting, as they do everyday, for you to return at the end of your shift.

Your service and sacrifice is truly A Matter of Honor.  Thank you.

Ambassador & Guardian Spotlight
Though relatively new to the Ambassador group, Bill Erfurth has been part of the law enforcement community for decades. Bill is a career law enforcement professional who served for over 25 years in Miami, Florida. In past years, he had his own radio show (COPNET), on which he, along with Memorial Fund Chairman & CEO Craig Floyd and now-U.S. Marshall Bill Berger discussed many issues of importance to law enforcement, especially officer safety.

Lately, Bill has taken his talents behind the camera, and in partnership with the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund, he and his production team (Modern City Entertainment) have produced an exceptional documentary, Heroes Behind the Badge.
