128 Law Enforcement Fatalities in 2017
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund reports a nationwide decrease in the number of officers killed in the line of duty in 2017, according to preliminary data compiled and released today in its 2017 Preliminary Law Enforcement Fatalities Report. As of Dec. 28, the 128 officer fatalities in 2017 represents a 10 percent decrease over the 143 who died in the line of duty last year.

Officer of the Month Award
The National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial Fund has selected United States Capitol Police Special Agents David Bailey and Crystal Griner, as well as Alexandria (VA) Police Officers Nicole Battaglia, Alexander Jensen and Kevin Jobe, as the recipients of its Officer of the Month Award for December 2017.
